Observance of International Non-Violence Day

  • Today i.e. on 2nd October, 2024, International Non-Violence Day observed in Kamrup District to commemorate the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation “Mahatma Gandhi”. Starting the programme by lighting the lamps and offering flowers/garlanding the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the premises of the Integrated District Commissioner's Office in Amingaon. District Commissioner, Kamrup District, Shri Deba Kumar Mishra, ACS lighted a lamp at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and paid tribute to the contribution of the father of the nation in the freedom movement of India. The District Commissioner also read out the pledge of non-violence and peace to all the attendees. The event was attended by the acclaimed and noted artist and sculptor of Assam Shri Biren Singha and other dignitaries viz. Shri Diganta Kalita, MLA, Kamalpur Assembly Constituency, Shri Hemanga Thakuria, MLA, Palasbari Assembly Constituency, Shri Hemanta Choudhury, OSD to Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Shri Debajyoti Dutta, IAS, Director of Census Operations, Guwahati, Shri Sushanta Kumar Dutta, ACS, District Development Commissioner, Kamrup, Shri Siddharth Goswami, ACS, CEO, Kamrup Zilla Parisad, Shri Tarini Kt. Haloi, Lecturer, North Guwahati College, Shri Paresh Baishya, Retd. Principal, Dadara HSS and other officers and employees of the District Commissioner's Office.
